Prayer/Liturgy Ministries

A stewardship parish strives to nourish the soul through prayer.  It is through prayer that we nurture our personal relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Prayer is the lifeblood of a disciple. This includes not only our personal prayer but the opportunity to pray with and for others. We have a robust prayer ministry at parish, made up of men and women who are eager to help others in times of need:

Eucharistic Adoration is held in the Day Chapel every Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm.  Contact the church office for more information.

Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer in which we experience God's presence within us. This ministry meets every Monday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the church. Contact Ken Wade for more information.

Holy Name Society is a spiritual organization that promotes reverence for the Name of God and Jesus, sanctification of its members, fosters observance of the Holy Name Pledge, and performs corporal and spiritual works of mercy as individuals and as a Holy Name Society group. Contact Lenny Frisaro for more information.

Prayer Chain offers up daily prayers for the intentions requested by parishioners.  The ministry lead relays prayer requests to ministry volunteers and all intentions are kept confidential. Contact Dolores Kremer for more information.

Wedding Directors help a bride and groom and their guests to celebrate a beautiful and reverent wedding ceremony. They lead all wedding rehearsals and on the day of the wedding. Brides must contact the church office to first schedule their wedding before being assigned to a wedding director.  Carol Fisher leads this ministry.

Liturgy and worship ministries serve the Prince of Peace faith community in the areas of both private and public worship.  Many opportunities are available for those who feel called to take an active and  visible role by serving in the Sunday Eucharistic celebration. Other opportunities are available for those who feel called to serve in a supportive, behind the scenes role.  As Catholics, the Mass is at the heart of all that we believe.

Altar Linens Maintenance volunteers launder and iron the linens.  They may be picked up after the weekend Masses or on Monday morning and returned to the church by Thursday evening.  Volunteers are scheduled on a rotating basis. Contact Kristin Tonner.

Altar Servers assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This position is open to boys and girls who have received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and first Eucharist. Training is provided in a group or individual class and children are scheduled to serve on a rotating basis at the Mass time of their choice. Contact either Jenny Lutomski or Pat Morris.

Baptism Welcome volunteers provide hospitality and fellowship to family and friends attending the Sacrament of Baptism. An orientation session is provided by the church. Contact Sam Carnley for more information.

Candle Oil Ministry volunteers monitor, order, restock and replenish the candle oil as needed. Contact Marie O'Toole.

Choirs/Musicians Ministry members offer their time and talent to God and the parish at the weekend Masses and on other occasions.  We offer a Sunday morning choir, a "once a month" Sunday choir, and a youth choir for children in Kindergarten through grade twelve.  Attendance at rehearsals is required and opportunities exist for those who desire to cantor.  Contact Music and Liturgy Director Cheri Poole.

Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest in distributing the body and Blood of Christ during the Communion Rite at Mass. Individual and group training sessions are offered and volunteers may serve at the Mass time of their choice on a rotating basis. Contact Bill Lees.

Readers (Lectors) volunteer opportunities are available at all Mass times and at additional services throughout the year. Training is provided and readers are scheduled on a rotating basis at the Mass time of their choice.  Contact Roberta Atkinson.

Ushers provide assistance to parishioners and visitors at Mass.  Both adults and teens may join this ministry.  Training is provided and ushers are scheduled on a rotating basis at the Mass time of their choice.  Contact Vic Graffeo.

Vestments Ministry members ensure that the priests' vestments are kept clean and ready for use. Occasionally seasonal vestments may be purchased or made. Contact Guy and Debbie Barg.
