If one of your new year's resolutions is to grow in your Catholic faith, we have a great weekday program beginning on January 23 and running for four consecutive Mondays through February 13 from noon to 1:30pm at POP Church.
The great Catholic Bible scholar Fr. Donald Senior (1940-2022) wrote about knowing Jesus and knowing about Jesus. We may know a lot about someone—perhaps a famous person—but not know them personally. Or we may know someone without knowing much about them. Christians are called to know Jesus, but what do we know about him? Almost everything we know about Jesus comes from the four Gospels. These are divinely inspired and, at the same time, show somewhat different portraits of Jesus, who our faith teaches was fully divine and fully human. What can we know about the Jesus who was born, grew up, engaged in ministry, and was executed and rose from the dead? What were the roles of his Jewish heritage, the land, culture, and history of the first century? In this 4-part series, led by Dr. Dale Wisely, we will study these topics using, among other sources, Fr. Donald Senior’s text Jesus: A Gospel Portrait. (Obtaining a copy of the book is encouraged, but not required to participate in the series.)
Four sessions will be offered on January 23, January 30, February 6, February 13 from noon-1:30pm in Deasy Hall with lunch provided.
