Congratulations to Erin Lutomski who received the 2021 Caitlin Sweeney-McDaniel Faith in Action Award. Erin is a 2021 graduate of Hoover High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, French Honor Society, National Honor Society for Dance Arts and maintained a 4.0+ GPA all four years. She was named a Distinguished Young Woman of Jefferson County and was the second alternate in the Distinguished Young Women of Alabama competition. At POP, Erin has been an altar server and trained new servers, a VBS volunteer and a peer helper for the Confirmation class. She is also active in civic activities as a Hoover Belle and a Juniorette. Erin will be headed to Butler University in Indianapolis where she will double major in ballet performance and psychology. She is the daughter of Jenny and Don Lutomski of Hoover, AL.
This award honors a graduating high school senior within our parish who exemplifies their Catholic faith in action, serves their community, and is a well-rounded student. It was established in 2004 in memory of Prince of Peace Catholic School student Caitlin Sweeney by her parents, Joe and Cindy Sweeney. The winner receives $500 and the runner-up receives $250.
Runner-up for the award was Kaitlyn Langford. Kaitlyn is an alum of our school and graduated from Hoover High School this year where she won an academic excellence award and a Hoover Pride award for character. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and played on the high school soccer team as well as the southern states competitive soccer team. Her service to the church included volunteering for vacation Bible school as the special needs teacher. Kaitlyn will attend Mississippi State to major in business administration in the fall. She is the daughter of Brant and Stacey Langford of Hoover, AL. Both Erin and Kaitlyn are lifelong members of Prince of Peace, baptized here by Father Fallon! We wish them much success and happiness as they begin the college chapter of their lives.
