Prince of Peace Catholic School’s fifth grade class packed 202 bags of food for our church's Weekender Backpack ministry! Under the direction of their teachers Alex Jones and Abby Lucas, they sorted all of the food that was donated by school families for this ministry and then went to work packing it into weekly bags. What a fantastic example of stewardship service from our youth. Every month, the church’s Weekender Backpack ministry packs over 500 bags of shelf-stable food which is then distributed to three schools: Holy Family Catholic Academy, Saint Barnabas Catholic School and Simmons Middle School. These schools have identified students who are in need of food over the weekends when they don't have access to school meals and every Friday they discretely give the bags of shelf-stable food from Prince of Peace to these students. You can help this ministry on the first Thursday of every month by volunteering to sort and assemble the food for these backpacks at either 10:30 am or 6pm at the church. Financial donations are also welcome. Want more information about this awesome ministry? Contact Ruth Ollie.
