Becoming Catholic in a Welcoming Environment - At Prince of Peace, our motto is “All Are Welcome.” It is our prayer that everyone who comes to our faith community, for any reason, will truly feel welcome. For those desiring to become Catholic (or simply learn more about the faith), we offer a program called “In Full Communion.” It is our version of what is commonly referred to as RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, done in a warm and welcoming environment.
Participants in this program may have extensive prior involvements in other Christian denominations or they may be entirely new to any worship tradition. In Full Communion was designed to welcome and accommodate everyone. All participants complete a core Catholic faith education program over a period of 10 weeks. Those with little or no Christian background knowledge or worship experience will be asked to complete a customized program of additional study to round out their faith education.
Partly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the program employs a blended study approach of live online classes and self-study. The online classes meet on Zoom (until we can safely gather in person) on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. The self-study portion is composed of selected print, audio, and video materials as well as a weekly journaling requirement.* The core program is 10 weeks and our next session begins on September 13. Specific class dates and topics may be found on the church website along with the link to register. Questions may be directed to [email protected].
* If any participants have difficulties with reading or writing, accommodations will be made to assist them in completing the program.
