We are excited to announce that Prince of Peace is doubling its efforts to feed the homeless of Birmingham! We are adding another Sunday service date each month to our Lunch for the Homeless outreach. This is an opportunity for parishioners to donate, prepare, or package a hot lunch for the Food for Our Journey food truck, The food truck picks up the meals at Prince of Peace and then delivers them to the hungry on the streets of downtown Birmingham the same day.
Currently, we serve on the third Sunday of every month and now, thanks to the parish's tremendous response, we have been able to add the first Sunday of the month to our schedule. We have changed the menu for our new, first Sunday of the month meal. Instead of fried chicken and mashed potatoes, the main dish has changed to baked pasta with meat sauce and garlic bread. Green beans, dessert, and water remain on the menu.
You can find the list of all service dates and items to donate or hands-on opportunities on our SignUp Genius website. If you would like to participate by donating food, water, containers, utensils, or help to fill the takeout containers with food, go to Sign Up Genius now and select your date of service and item to donate. (At this time, the food truck is not able to have volunteers on the truck.)
