The theme of this year’s vacation Bible school at Prince of Peace was “Rocky Railway-Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through” – an appropriate title for the times! We weren’t able to host the children at POP due to COVID-19, so we offered a virtual experience instead. Each morning at 9:30am, VBS participants tuned into a video online using either Facebook or our website which created especially for them by our religious education department. Each day’s program included a Bible lesson from Fr. Joy Nellissery or Dr. Dale Wisely, a fun music and song session with music and liturgy director Cheri Poole, a craft, a Bible story reenactment by a parish family, and “Imagination Station” which used science to reinforce a Bible point. We are grateful to the 13 parish families who recorded videos to include in our daily program – it was a very collaborative and successful new way of offering vacation Bible school!
In addition to our parish children, we had five families from out of state join our vacation Bible school this year! They found our program while searching for a virtual vacation Bible school online, asked to join us, and had a great time. All are welcome!
