Sister Delia Grace Haikala
Jan 8, 2020
Sister Delia Grace, OP was home for Christmas and came to Mass at Prince of Peace with her family. Father Joy introduced her at the Saturday vigil Mass on December 28, which (coincidentally) celebrated the Holy Family. She is the daughter of parishioners Harri and Madeline Haikala. Sr. Delia Grace is based at the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in Nashville, TN, but grew up in Birmingham and graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School in 2010, when she was known as Ali Haikala. She professed her vows on July 24, 2019 and teaches seventh and eighth grade at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Murfreesboro, TN. Her sister Leila has followed her lead and is now in formation at St. Cecilia as Sister Krista Noelle! Other siblings include Kristian (who attended Prince of Peace Catholic School for seventh and eighth grade) and Matthew - all John Carroll graduates. Mrs. Haikala said of her daughter, “Sister Delia Grace found her calling on a retreat to the St. Cecilia convent while she was in high school, and she has not looked back. She could not have imagined a more perfect life for herself, and she gives thanks to God for the gift of religious life.”
