The 2022 scholarship has been awarded.  Please check back in March 2023 for the 2023 application.  Information will also be posted in the bulletin, on the website and social media when the application period opens.

All current eighth grade students who are members of Prince of Peace Catholic Parish and who are planning to attend John Carroll Catholic High School in the 2022/2023 school year are invited to apply for the Patrick Francis Werszner Memorial Scholarship.  The scholarship is awarded based upon the student’s character and service to others.  Find the 2022 application here.  The deadline to apply is May 9, 2022.  The winner will be announced at the Prince of Peace Catholic School graduation ceremony.

The winner receives a $1,000  award toward their freshman year tuition, which is then renewable for $500 annually for the following three years as long as the student remains in good standing at John Carroll.  

The Prince of Peace Knights of Columbus established this scholarship seven years ago to honor Patrick Francis Werszner who passed away on September 6, 2015 at the age of 19.  Patrick was a a 2010 graduate of Prince of Peace Catholic School and a 2014 graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School.  At the time of his death, he was a student at UAB and a member of the POP Knights of Columbus Council 11537.  Patrick was a parishioner at Prince of Peace and St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Chapel.  Donations to this scholarship fund are welcome (and tax-deductible) and can be mailed to the Knights of Columbus Council 11537, Attn: Patrick Francis Werszner Memorial Scholarship, 4600 Preserve Parkway, Hoover, AL 35226.
