Mark Christian is Director of Adult Faith Formation at Prince of Peace. He cultivates study and prayer opportunities, including our Becoming Catholic (OCIA) program.

Before coming to Prince of Peace, Mark served seven years as Director of Adult Formation at St. Aloysius Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  At St. Aloysius he developed an active culture of study and faith formation, employing a variety of resources from Ascension Press, the Augustine Institute, and JustFaith Ministries. Mark takes great delight in sharing the rich diversity of devotional practices that nourish Catholic life, including the Rosary, Lectio Divina, and the Prayer of the Heart.

Mark grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and is a graduate of Wofford College and Duke University’s Divinity School.  Before he was received into full communion

with the Catholic Church, Mark served in a variety of ministry settings, both Protestant and Eastern Orthodox, including a hospital chaplaincy internship at UNC-Chapel Hill, tutoring seminarians in the Native Ministry Program at the Vancouver School of Theology in British Columbia, and teaching New Testament in a youth ministry certification program for the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina.  He has pursued additional graduate study at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, Louisiana State University, and St. Vladimir’s Theological Seminary.

Mark is married to Mary Elizabeth, a retired surgeon, and they have three adult daughters and two grandchildren. They are deeply committed to exploring ways faith communities can welcome and accompany persons with developmental disabilities.

Mark loves gardening, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.
