Adult Formation

A variety of faith formation opportunities are available at Prince of Peace for adults to grow in knowledge of the Catholic faith and nurture their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Sunday

9:45 am - 10:45am  Becoming Catholic - begins Sept. 12

This program is our version of what is often referred to as RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  With joy and gratitude, we offer In Becoming Catholic for those who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith and then, if called, become Catholic.  This program is also open to Catholics who want to learn more about their faith. Learn more about the program here.

9:45 am - 10:45 am - Adult faith study - The Book of Exodus  - begins Sept. 12

The Sunday faith study will resume on September 12 with a 5-part study of the Book of Exodus.  Sessions meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.  The series will conclude on October 10.

Exodus provides the theological framework for the rest of the Bible by mapping out the logical and doctrinal basis of the scriptures.  You will appreciate the clear and engaging approach characteristic of this program.

Video presenters in the popular Book by Book series are Richard Bewes and Paul Blackham, curates at All Souls Church in London.  They are joined by Rev. Joseph Steinberg, CEO of Christian Witness to Israel.  He formerly directed Jews for Jesus and received degrees from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Trinity College in Bristol, England.

9:45 am  - 10:45 am - Adult faith study - "Scripture in Action" - begins Sept. 12

This scripture study group meets weekly on Sunday mornings between the mornings Masses to discuss the readings for that Sunday and how those readings are relative in our life “today.”  Commentaries from scripture scholars are used to help understand and apply the readings to our life’s experiences. Strengthen your understanding of the Old and New Testaments by sharing your thoughts and questions about the readings we hear during the Liturgy of the Word. Class meets every Sunday of the year, except holiday weekendsFacilitator:  Tom Germanson (MA Theology), 205-565-3456.

6:15 pm - 7:30 pm - Men's Bible study

Calling All Men to journey together in fellowship and study on the first and third Sunday nights of each month from 6:15pm to 7:30pm in the St. John room.  Our catalyst for discussion will be the Sunday Gospel Reading for the next Sunday.  No heavy studying, just come, listen and share.  For more information contact Rees Oliver or Deacon Rick at 205-422-8734.
