BAPTISM

WHAT IS BAPTISM

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic faith. Through its reception, the door is opened to the other sacraments. Those who are baptized die to their old way of life and are reborn as members of the Church, the united body of Christ; past sins are forgiven, and the Holy Trinity comes to dwell within the soul.

FOR INFANTS

Prince of Peace offers the Sacrament of Baptism throughout the year for children under seven years of age. Parents are required to attend a one-time, one-hour baptism preparation class, which is offered on the second and fourth Sunday of the month at 9:45am in the church office. To register for the class, schedule the baptism date and time, and for any questions, please contact the CHURCH OFFICE at 205-822-9125

Baptisms are offered during or after the weekend Mass at 4pm on Saturday, and during or after the 8:30am or 11am Mass on Sunday.

After the baptism date is confirmed with the church office, the Baptism Record Information form below must be completed and submitted to the church at least two weeks prior to the baptism date.

Parents seeking to baptize their child over the age of seven must contact the CHURCH OFFICE for further information.

FOR ADULTS

Adults seeking baptism or wishing to join the Church receive all three Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist—at the same time. To learn more, explore our "Becoming Catholic" program.
