Job Overview

The High School Youth Director, under the guidance and direction of the Director of Youth Faith Formation is responsible for the planning, organizing, guiding, recruiting, and coordinating a comprehensive youth ministry program for youth in grades nine through twelve. The Director will lead and administer the components of a high school youth ministry including catechesis, community life, evangelization, social justice, service, leadership development, prayer, and worship. Serve as assistant to the religious education department throughout the week and for the Sunday morning PSR program. The Director will perform his/her duties in a manner consistent with Catholic teaching and will lead by example to provide students with opportunities to develop moral and spiritual values.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops curriculum and activities for youth to incorporate faith sharing and development.

  • Encourage and recruit students to join the POP youth groups.

  • Recruit, train and supervise adult chaperone and supervision for required meetings and activities. In collaboration with youth protection coordinator, ensures volunteers are certified and updated on youth protection training, and background screenings are current.

  • Oversees and ensures the supervision of minors while on parish/school grounds and offsite parish activities.

  • Responsible for all administrative duties for the youth programs including communication with families via email, mail, and phone calls. Tracks attendance and registration for programs and activities.

  • Collaborates with the middle school youth director on joint activities and facilitates progression into the high school youth group.

  • Serves as an assistant to the religious education department and assists with Sunday PSR.

  • Foster involvement of teens and families in the life of the parish, including, but not limited to being involved in parish activities and worship services.

  • Maintains a professional working attitude and collaborative approach, with strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Perform related work as required. 

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Requirements

A practicing Catholic who can fully participate in the sacraments of the Church. Strong knowledge and comprehension of the Catholic faith. Bachelor of Theology in Youth Ministry or equivalent experience in education and/or child development. Ability to work with faculty/staff and parents and desire to help them grow and mature in their life and Christian faith. Sufficient health and stamina to meet the demands of the position. Strong multitasking, prioritizing, and organizational skills, with an attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
