AT PRINCE OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH
What Is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry offers services by a team of parish members—called Stephen Ministers—who provide one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the parish experiencing life difficulties. Our team of volunteer Stephen Ministers were trained in 2026 and commissioned in May 2026.
Who Might Benefit from Stephen Ministry?
Parishioners who are experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce and family-related stress, job loss, chronic or severe illness, or relocation.
How Does Stephen Ministry Work?
An individual who believes they may benefit from Stephen Ministry may contact any of our clergy or one of our Stephen Ministry Leaders (see contact list below). A friend or family member may also contact our staff on behalf of another person. We will then meet with the individual, discuss the ministry and, when appropriate, match the individual to a Stephen Minister. Men are assigned male ministers and women are matched with female ministers.
The Stephen Minister and the person receiving care (called "Care Receivers") typically meet once a week. The Stephen Minister is trained to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The caring relationship lasts as long as the need for care exists. The service is confidential.
